I have a friend on the bird flu Task Force, all of the epidemiologists were shit scared of the bird flu but knew it was just as likely the next pandemic could come from something else. This multi strain swine flue could be a concern. Not as virulent (12%+ mortality) as the the outbreaks of bird flu (50%+ mortality rate) but poor odds all the same. Main victims healthy young men with no history of illness. Very similar to the 1919 outbreak which killed more people than the then just finished World War 1.
